The UM3284F is 4-channel ESD-protected level translator provides the level shifting necessary to allow data transfer in a multi-voltage system. Externally applied voltages, VCCB and VCCA, set the logic levels on either side of the device. A low-voltage logic signal present on the VCCA side of the device appears as a high-voltage logic signal on the VCCB side of the device, and vice-versa. The UM3284F bidirectional level translator utilizes a transmission-gate based design to allow data translation in either direction (VCCA↔VCCB) on any single data line. VCCA and VCCB have a common operating voltage from 1.1V to 5.5V. VCCA being less than VCCB is no longer a requirement.
This device is fully specified for partial-power-down applications using IOFF. The IOFF circuitry disables the outputs, thus preventing damaging current backflow through the device when it is powered down. The VCC isolation feature is designed so that if either VCC input supply is below 100mV, all level shifter outputs are disabled and placed into a high impedance state. The UM3284F enters a three-state output mode to reduce supply current when output enable (OE) is low. The UM3284F is designed so that the OE input circuit is supplied by VCCA. ±8kV ESD protection on both sides for greater protection in applications that route signals externally.
